Health Ministries
The mission of health ministry is compassionate care.  Programs are designed to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of individuals while focusing on ways to maintain optimal health and stressing the importance of relationships between members and between health and faith.

CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

HOPE FOR THE HURTING is a DVD series by Christian counselor, H. Norman Wright currently being presented on Monday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:30 pm in Chapel Hall. Contents include, Characteristics of a Crisis, Counseling Fundamentas, Phases of a Crisis, Loss, What to Say, and Case Studies. Handouts are available for each session.

CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP  meets the 4th Thursday of every month, except August.  If you are caring for a loved one and need to "get away" for a little while to recharge your batteries, join us at  2:00 pm in Chapel Hall. We share, support one another in the name of Christ and review helpful information. This is a time to let your hair down, laugh, cry, or just enjoy some fellowship with others who understand your journey as a caregiver.

The meeting is open to both members of The Village Chapel and others in the community.

PRIME TIME is our weekly meeting for guests suffering from Alzheimer's or other dementia issue.  We meet at the Care Cottage on Thursdays from 130-4:30.  There are currently two openings for individuals needing a little respite care. Call June Vetter (639-2797)for more information or drop by on Thursdays and talk to our wonderful Prime Time Director, Judy Mantel.

THE MINISTRY OF CARE

Health Ministries is currently building a larger support group that can assist home caregivers. If you are willing to visit with a homebound person so the caregiver can leave the house for an hour or two, call me (639-2797). This would not involve any personal care or medical assistance. We are looking for caring "visitors" to watch television, play a game (BINGO is popular!) or just sit quietly with the homebound member as he or she dozes.

CHALLENGING CANCER is a DVD series offered by the American Association of Christian Counselors and is currently being considered as a program in the Chapel. If interested, call the church office and express your interest in learning more (295-6003).

VOLUNTEERS

Health Ministry has a number of programs offered to members of the Chapel and the community.  We are in need of volunteers for all of these programs.  If you have a few hours a month and would like to volunteer, please contact June Vetter (295-8026) or (639-2797).

Blessings,
